Easy Chocolate Peppermint Milkshake + Easy Food Ideas For Your Holiday Party
During the holiday season, I love spending time with family and friends. Having the ones I love come to my home is a great way to catch up, eat good food, drink tasty beverages, and exchange gifts. If I waited until my home was magazine-worthy or my food was Pinterest-perfect, I’d never invite people over. Forget perfection and embrace practicality. Make what you can and buy what you can’t. When I’m throwing a holiday party, I look for side dishes I can heat and serve, meat and cheese trays, veggie plates, and pre-made appetizers.
To get my easy holiday dishes, I headed to my local Martin’s Supermarket. Their deli, bakery, and seafood departments never disappoint when it comes to variety, quality, and price. I always use my Bonus Card when I shop at Martin’s because not only do I save money but I earn discounts on future fuel purchases. If you’re not a BONUSCARD® member, sign up today and you’ll receive a $5 off coupon (coupon for new customers only).
On this particular visit, I spotted a display for Martin’s Limited Time Originals Holiday Collection Products as soon as I walked into the door. With choices like Peppermint Chocolate sandwich cookies, Holiday Spice Orange Cranberry Baked Brie, and Holiday Spice Sweet Potato Soup with Cranberries (just to name a few), I knew I’d stumbled upon the holy grail of holiday party foods.
For this holiday get together I decided to serve a London broil. I found this pre-marinated package on sale in the meat department.
After an hour in the oven, it was ready to serve and it tasted oh so delicious!
Potatoes that I can heat and serve saves me loads of time. And energy.
This Nature’s Promise Shrimp Ring looks fancy but at $8.99, it’s an impressive and affordable appetizer.
You can’t go wrong with veggies and ranch dip. Especially when the veggies are pre-washed and already sliced for you.
While beverages included anything from sparkling water to soda to wine, I had a festive idea for dessert.
How does a Chocolate Peppermint Milkshake sound?
For each milkshake, I used:
- 3 cups of vanilla bean ice cream
- 2 peppermint chocolate sandwich cookies
- tbsp of milk
- 1 tbsp crushed peppermint
- whipped cream
I threw the ice cream, cookies, and milk into the blender and combined well. I added a tablespoon of crushed peppermint to the bottom of a mug and then poured the contents of the blender inside.
I sprayed whipped cream on the top and added some crushed peppermint as a garnish. You could also top it off with one of the cookies.
How easy was that? In ten minutes or less, you have a delicious, and easy Chocolate Peppermint milk shake.
I hope this post has given you some ideas on how to make your next holiday party easy and stress-free!
