Dogs like cars and Subaru likes that dogs like cars. Seriously, I think this video says it all. Maximus has never been in a Subaru but he’s been in enough cars to earn his Dog Tested. Dog Approved. driver’s license. Isn’t it cute? I made this with Subaru’s cool new Facebook application. While there, you can also insert your dog’s picture in a Subaru, use the matchmaker tool to find the perfect Subaru model for your dog, or Ask an Expert {the experts are dogs}.
It certainly doesn’t take an expert to figure out that Maximus likes to go for a ride in the car {as long as the ride doesn’t end at the vet’s office}. Whenever I plan a road trip with Maximus, I make sure to follow a few safety guidelines from the ASPCA:
- Always place your pet in a well-ventilated crate or carrier that’s large enough for him to stand, sit, lie down and turn around in.
- Travel with bottled water or tap water stored in plastic jugs. Dogs need to stay hydrated.
- Never leave your dog alone in a parked car. On a hot day, even with the windows open, a parked automobile can become a furnace in no time, and heatstroke can develop. In cold weather, a car can act as a refrigerator, holding in the cold and causing the animal to freeze to death.
- Feed your dog a light meal about 3-4 hours before departure.
- Make sure that your pet has a microchip for identification and/or a collar with contact information on a tag.
- If traveling a lengthy distance, bring along your pet’s vaccination record, waste disposal bags, and a first aid kit. His favorite toy{s} or blanket can be comforting as well.
- Don’t allow your pet to ride with his head outside the window. He could be injured by flying objects.
Subaru doesn’t only know dogs, they know their owners too. To show the humans some love, Subaru is giving away one $350 Visa gift card and one $150 gift card. That’s a lot of dog treats! The giveaway is open to US and Canada and ends on 2/24/13.
Before you enter, I would love if you tweeted this for me. I’d like to show Subaru some love!
