I am still a kid at heart so I have to admit that my favorite place to visit is {still} Disney World in Florida. What’s not to love about a place that deems itself “magical” and makes you feel as if you’ve stepped into a fantasy world?!
I spent the majority of my childhood in Florida so I was very blessed to be within driving distance of Disney World. I have so many great memories—-both as a child and adult. I’ll share a few of my favorites with you.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: This ride closed down many years ago but I remember being in awe that I was able to go under water in a submarine! I could not believe that an 8-year-old like myself was able to look at gorgeous fish and real-live mermaids
all through the glass of a submarine. The vibrant underwater colors and beauty of the mermaids had me begging to go on this ride over and over!
Mad Tea Party: This is where I learned that I suffer from motion sickness. The endless spinning and swirling had me green in the gills. I stepped out of the teacup and felt my head swirl and my stomach churn. Not wanting to tell my parents I felt sick, I calmly stated “I don’t like that ride very much”.
It’s A Small World: Whether child or adult, this ride never failed to delight me. Between the boat ride, catchy tune, and dancing wonders of the world, this ride left an impression.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: I enjoy this ride so much that I laugh the entire time I am on it. I’m not kidding. My first time on this ride was on New Year’s Eve when I was about 20 years old. Between the excitement of the new year and the thrill of the ride, I laughed so hard that I cried! Don’t ask, I can’t explain it either.
Haunted Mansion: When I was a kid, this ride scared me and fascinated me at the same time. The floating ghosts, tombstones, and other macabre had me gripping my chair more than I cared to admit. Don’t even get me started on how freaked out I was when I found a ghost sitting next to me at the end of the ride. I remember running out of that mansion as fast as I could!
Pirates of the Caribbean: This is by far my favorite ride! I love, love, love this ride. As a child, I patiently waited in the long lines in the Florida heat just to get on. As an adult {before Multiple Sclerosis}, I patiently waited in the long lines just to get on this ride. Consistently, I always wondered why the ride was so short. Weren’t there more pirates to check out? Why do I have to get off the ride and go wait in line just to ride again? Why can’t I just sit in the boat and ride over and over? Did the dog ever give the prisoner the keys? Why are those pirates drinking so much? Lol I- just- love- this- ride.
So many memories and so much fun. I am happy that a place like Disney World even exists. Aren’t you?
“Too many people grow up. That’s the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up. They forget. They don’t remember what it’s like to be 12 years old. They patronize, they treat children as inferiors. Well I won’t do that.” — Walt Disney Quote Source

Oh, I watch the other rides on youtube, I’m glad Disney doesn’t make people take the videos off due to copyright infringement!
I was lucky enough to be born in Anaheim and even though we moved away to S.F. My grandmother lived in Buena Park, so I got to go many times when I was young. I loved all the rides in Disneyland, but made a startling discovery when went back to Disneyland in my teens. I went on the Haunted Mansion ride and was telling my friend afterwards how much they’ve added to that ride and how it used to be just the elevator ride and the flashing portraits that change. I guess my small terrified self just blocked out the whole rest of the ride! By the way I love that ride and love to watch the other versions in the other Disney parks, they’re very cool and I wish I could visit them too!
It is very neat how the rides differ park by park! I would love to visit Disneyland one day
