Lately, I have really been craving baked s’mores. If you’ve never had them, well let me tell you… these are AH-MAZING! Whenever I made these, they definitely did not last long {thank you to theaprongal.com for the recipe}. I love s’mores already, but these are even better in my opinion. They are perfect to eat with the family, outside in front of a fire, with the hubby or close friends on a movie night, you name it! Unfortunately since I have been trying to eat healthy, I didn’t make them this time (also why I wasn’t able to take pictures). However, I still wanted to share the recipe with all of you so you and your family or friends (if you feel like sharing lol) can enjoy them!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 large egg
1 1/3 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt (optional)
3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs (approximately 5 full graham crackers)
Two or three super-sized (5 oz.) Hershey’s chocolate bars (Use 2 for an 8×8 size pan. Larger pans, use 3)
1 1/2 cups marshmallow creme/fluff
Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 350. Grease bottom of pan (this recipe is for an 8×8 size pan).
2) In a large bowl or mixer, cream together butter and sugar until well mixed. Then add in egg and vanilla. Beat until completely mixed.
3) Next, add the flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder and salt to the butter mixture and mix thoroughly.
4) Once the dough is made, divide it in half (one each for the top and bottom layer) and press half of dough into an even layer on the bottom of the prepared pan.
5) Place the Hershey chocolate bars over dough in a single layer.
6) Next, spread the marshmallow creme/fluff evenly over the chocolate bars. To make it easier, you can microwave the creme/fluff or use a hot utensil to help spread it. You can also switch steps 5 and 6 and put the marshmallow fluff on the bottom layer first and then put the Hershey bars on top.
7) Place remaining dough in a single layer on top of the marshmallow fluff. To do this, use two pieces of clear saran wrap or a gallon size freezer bag. Use your palms or rolling pin to spread and flatten it out to the right size. Turn it over the pan and plop it on top. Make sure to seal up the edges and carefully spread the dough if it is uneven. If you know another easy way to do this, feel free to do that instead!
8) Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until lightly browned.
Let cool for a few minutes before cutting into bars. Personally, I like to cut it when it is still somewhat hot because it makes it easier. If they sit for too long and cool completely they harden a little bit. Also, if you are not eating them right away, be sure to heat them up before serving so they are soft and gooey!
Enjoy!
Let me know how they turn out if you make them!
