Buddies by goose, on Pix-O-SphereI recently had the great honor of reviewing the book titled “The Fitzy Resolution” written by A.D. DeSena.

About the book

As conflict builds between the Central Canine Government and the Wilds, Senator Labrador Casey is called to investigate the mysterious disappearances of canines in her district. Meanwhile, Juniper, a shrewd veteran Senator, seeks to exploit every political opportunity, including Casey’s investigation for his own personal gain. As her investigation leads her snout-to-snout with disturbing facts about her government and her world, Casey must race against time to stop Juniper from achieving his ultimate political goals. The result is a battle that pits two political philosphies against one another and threatens the very existence of canine society.

My Impressions

If you are a bibliophile like me, you remember the very first book you read that transported you to another world. For me, that book was The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame. Oh how I loved that book. I remember buying my own copy with my allowance money and reading it several times over. The Fitzy Resolution actually reminds me of The Wind in the Willows. There are several similarities and if you’ve read The Wind in the Willows, you’ll understand the similarities I point out.

Firstly, The Fitzy Resolution is narrated from the viewpoint of the central characters—-> dogs. That’s right, canines. As the reader, I was able to see and experience the world through the canines’ eyes. To say that the canine view was fascinating—-well, that would be an understatement. I was truly captivated by what I was reading. Secondly, the book’s moral message can only be defined as timeless. Many of the morals and principles in the book can be applied to life today and certainly to life in the future. I love a book with a strong moral message and The Fitzy Resolution certainly delivers. Thirdly, it is easy to identify with several of the characters in the book {even the ones I didn’t like}. Finally, giving  canines, rats, wolves, cats, and squirrels distinct personalities is no easy task but the author somehow does it flawlessly.

As with any book, there were moments when I felt bogged down with complex words and details but as I progressed through the book, I was able to see how important these details were to the essence of the story.

I have already read this book twice. :)

I am giving The Fitzy Resolution 4 stars out of 5.
